How the Open works:
-
Join the CrossFit 414 team
-
The first workout will be announced on Thursday, February 27th to kick off the five week competition.
-
We will be running these workouts on Fridays as well as in the 10am class on Saturdays so that everyone has a chance to complete the workout and submit their score
-
Participate in the CrossFit 414 “Friday Night Lights” (more details on this to come tomorrow!)
Still unsure if you should sign up? Check out the following five reasons why EVERYONE should sign up:
1. It is all Inclusive
By design, these workouts are meant for nearly everyone to complete at least some portion. For example, last year one workout was 12 minutes to complete 150 Wall Balls/90 Double Unders and then 30 Muscle Ups. All of you can complete some wall balls and most would either get to or make it through the double unders. Other movements have included deadlifts, box jumps, snatches, toes to bar, thrusters and pull ups.
2. It will be fun!
Last year we had a great turnout for the Friday evening workouts and we want to continue that tradition. Friday nights will be a free workout for everyone to attend and will not count against your weekly class attendance limit. It will be a chance for us all to come together and cheer each other on. There will be many inspiring moments during the 5 weeks and then we can all relax and revel in our accomplishments while enjoying a beverage or two.
3. You will have a legit score to compare
We will all review the standards and run the workouts in heats which will allow everyone to have a judge. That extra set of eyes always brings out the best in people.
4. Reignite your competitive spirit!
With so many former athletes at the gym, I am sure some of you miss all of the competitions. Using the filters, you can compete against people in our region, your age group, or set up a friendly competition with someone within the gym!
5. You will surprise yourself
Sometimes it takes that little extra push of competition to get yourself to put a little extra weight on the bar or keep pushing it for those last painful minutes. Get signed up and you will be more accountable and many of you will achieve things you weren’t sure you could before.
